Project Details
Project Size: 22,200 sq. ft. |
Centennial Women’s Hospital: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit The Women’s Hospital at Centennial Medical Center has completed the final phase of its level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) expansion project. The 15.5 million dollar project expanded the NICU from 40 to 60 beds and more than tripled its square footage to a total of 22,200 square feet of space. The facility serves as a hub for critically ill infants born at other TriStar Health System hospitals and other hospitals in the region that are without NICU services. Over the past two years, The Women’s Hospital cared for 450 babies transferred from 30 different hospitals in need of higher-level care. Prime Surfaces Inc. was requested by HCA due to their experience with high profile hospital jobs. Prime Surfaces did an initial evaluation of the slab when taking up the existing carpet and at this point the team could see the dramatic deviations in the floor. It was a clear choice that the entire 22,200 sq. ft. needed to be treated with self leveler. Prime Surface uses a perfected technique when self leveling so no material is wasted and the varying level of low and high spots are correctly treated so the floor turns out completely straight. Using self leveler is the overall key to making a floor look beautiful. Prime Surfaces prides themselves on the correct execution of self leveling and uses a large amount of their working time on perfecting the surface to ensure it is ready to receive flooring that can require intricate patterns and detail. The Women’s Hospital at Centennial Medical Center is a good example of how proper self leveling can turn an uneven and nearly unusable surface into a beautiful and high quality floor. |
